Most frequently asked questions

What powers the alarm?
A readily available PP3 9 volt battery.

How long does the battery typically last?
6 months

Is the alarm waterproof?
Yes to IP 65 standard which means that it is rainproof and splashproof but may not survive being submerged

How loud is the siren?
110 decibels at 1 metre. About the level of an industrial chainsaw.

How long does the alarm sound for?
Two minutes and then automatically resets. If the caravan or trailer is taken with the alarm activated it will sound for three hours continuously in two minute cycles.

I turned on the alarm and tapped it but it doesn't seem to work. Whats wrong?
To allow you to leave the trailer and to let the sophisticated sensor settle, the alarm waits for forty-five seconds to arm itself.

Will wind trigger the alarm?
No. When correctly fitted to a Caravan or Trailer with the corner steadies down only gale force winds which move the whole vehicle should trigger the alarm.

Does the alarm qualify for insurance premium reductions?
Yes. It does with the Caravan Club and some other insurers. Check first; it is sometimes classed as a 'tilt alarm'.

Can the jockey wheel and handle be removed when the alarm is in position?
Yes, when the alarm is attached to its special bracket, the bracket can swing away allowing full opening of the jockey wheel clamp.

When fitting the alarm to a trailer can it be mounted in any position ?
It should not be positioned on the sides of the vehicle. It is most effective when mounted either on the jockey-wheel or as close to the drawbar as possible.
